People ask us to remodel their entire home for many reasons. Much of the time it’s a home they just bought as a fixer-upper. Other times it’s a family who has decided it’s time to give their home some overdue TLC. We also get work fixing up people’s home for a sale.
Regardless of the reason, entire home makeovers don’t have to break the bank.
For instance, take this Classic New England Style Cape that we recently remodeled. With over 1500 sq ft of living space, 3 bedroom, 1 bath, with a detached 2 car garage, there was a good amount of work to be done. We updated this Sanford, Maine area home with fresh paint and flooring throughout, new vinyl siding, new architectural shingles, energy efficient vinyl windows & low maintenance wood floors.
Let’s take a look at some of the results!
The new siding, roofing, and windows transformed this house into a much more comfortable, safe, and energy-efficient home. Just upgrading your home with these improvements will protect your home and help your wallet by decreasing heating and cooling costs for years.
This second exterior picture really illustrates the shape this home was in prior to our work. Homes like this are at risk for water damage from leaks along with crazy heating bills you’ll experience in our chilly Maine winters!
2. The Garage
Even your garage needs some love over the years, no matter what you’re keeping in there. The elements can wear away your garage, sometimes making it necessary to totally replace it when some repairs could have kept it in great shape for 20+ more years.
3. The Kitchen
You’d be amazed at what new appliances, cabinet refacing, a paint job, and new tiling can do for your kitchen. It can seem like a lot of work, but most appliances can be switched out without much hassle due to standardized sizing. Same thing for re-facing cabinets. That alone will make your kitchen a totally new environment, but when you factor in the other fixes, you get a beautiful new-feeling kitchen without much hassle.
4. The Bathroom
This bathroom looks brand new, but if you look closely, you can see that we’ve tastefully updated existing elements rather than totally gutting the space. We try to keep costs down by working with what the home already has whenever we can. Plus, why waste perfectly good materials when they can be beautifully refreshed with the right paint and stain? This plus new tiling and updated fixtures can totally transform a bathroom.
5. The Living Room
An open, light-filled living room makes your home a pleasure to relax in and host gatherings. We’ve maximized this home’s space and light by removing an unnecessary closet and widening the south-facing windows. The replacement of carpet with new flooring makes the space feel more open and modern as well.
A fresh coat of paint and new windows makes this space feel much more cozy and inviting. Some clients like to put a lot of amenities in their bedroom. Others find that even with a tricked-out bedroom, they spend most of their awake-time home time in the living room or kitchen, and so opt to focus their remodeling budget there.
